9/7/25 9:30 am - 12:30 pm FOJG Hike at Cumberland Marsh Nature Preserve, H23C+9G New Kent, VA, USA, Vandell Preserve at Cumberland Marsh is a mixture of freshwater tidal marsh and wooded upland located on the southern bank of the Pamunkey River and situated along the Atlantic Flyway. The preserve provides important migratory and wintering habitat for waterfowl. We'll be looking in particular for bald eagles, ospreys, great blue herons, egrets, black ducks, wood ducks, mallards and Canada geese.
The trail is relatively flat, approximately four miles long, through woods and marshes. We'll spend about three hours there. Ralph Grove is the outing leader.
