Award-winning author and photographer, Kevin O’Donnell, documents the beauty of Door County in his book Behind the Door: Profiles of a Peninsula. The 2025 Indie Winner of “Best Regional Book, non-fiction,” O’Donnell’s book blends story-telling, writing, and photography as it captures both the brilliance of the landscape and people surrounding Door County. Through pairing photographs and original essays, O’Donnell highlights the pieces that have contributed to the creation and continued growth of this beautiful region.
Novelist and poet, Margaret Ann Philbrick, tells the compelling story of one of the most notorious and unsolved art heists, Caravaggio’s Nativity with St. Francis and St. Lawrence, in her historical-fiction thriller, House of Honor. Philbrick chronicles the betrayal, love, and loyalty of two Italians, Orazio Bordoni and Nicolo Giotto, and the hidden complexities of the art world and the Vatican. Orazio and Nicolo are forced to discover how far they’re willing to push their boundaries, even if that means sacrificing everything.
Local author Emily Elizabeth Baker presents her novel The Last Empress. Baker centers her story on Ophelia June living in a society focused on preventing the rise of a female leader where women are banned from running for government, owning property, and reading and writing. While acting as a maid at a school for the sons of the elite, Lia is imprisoned and rescued by the Last Empress who offers her the chance for a new life where women hold the power instead of men.
In addition to hosting the authors, Novel Bay Booksellers will have discounts and sales in store during the yearly sale. The store will be selling holiday picture book bundles and several genres of blind grab bags of books.
