Join Healthy Heart Nation for an engaging and informative discussion in recognition of Sickle Cell Awareness Month. This special event is designed to increase awareness, provide education, and create meaningful dialogue about sickle cell disease and sickle cell trait. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear from physicians, healthcare professionals, and individuals living with sickle cell disease as they share their knowledge, experiences, challenges, and triumphs. During this panel, we will discuss:

• What sickle cell disease and sickle cell trait are
• The unique challenges faced by individuals and families living with sickle cell disease
• A firsthand perspective from a Sickle Cell Warrior
• Lifestyle strategies that may help reduce the frequency and severity of sickle cell crises, including nutrition, hydration, stress management, physical activity, and sleep
• The importance of advocacy, community support, and equitable healthcare access
• How churches, families, community organizations, and healthcare providers can better support those living with sickle cell disease

Free Sickle Cell Trait Testing Participants will also have the opportunity to receive free sickle cell trait testing with on the spot results. Knowing your trait status is important for personal health awareness and family planning. Most sickle cell trait blood tests are processed through a laboratory, with results typically available within 1 to 3 business days, although turnaround times may vary depending on the testing laboratory and testing method.

Why This Conversation Matters Sickle cell disease disproportionately affects the Black community, yet awareness, education, and support remain critically needed. By bringing together healthcare experts, community leaders, and individuals with lived experience, we hope to foster greater understanding, reduce stigma, and empower our community with knowledge and resources.Together, we can help ensure that those living with sickle cell disease feel supported, understood, and equipped to live healthier lives.
