TUESDAY - September 23 - 7PMKira “Bones” Lingman is a blues-soaked singer, guitarist, and bandleader rooted in the heart of Manhattan Beach, South Bay, California. From childhood, she was spellbound by the soulful depths of Led Zeppelin, Albert King, B.B. King, and Muddy Waters, drawing creative fire from their raw, authentic sound. Her nickname, “Bones,” was humorously coined by her father in early childhood when she playfully answered his rhyme challenge—calling herself “Bones” when asked what rhymed with her name. She has absorbed the influences of soulful vocalists like Peggy Lee, Janis Joplin, and Patsy Cline, seeking to blend warmth, raw emotion, and vocal command in her own style.
After earning her degree from Arizona State University, Kira returned to the South Bay, working at Becker Surfboards—an unlikely but perfect incubator for her musical vision. After hours, that surf shop doubled as a recording studio and performance space, where she laid down tracks and cemented the foundation of her band, The Hollow Legs.
Not one to chase streaming stats, Kira stays driven by the authenticity of process, creative connection, and the quest to challenge her artistry. Her recent single, “G Song Groove,” recorded on vintage 16‑track tape, signals a thoughtful evolution toward introspection and musical depth. Beyond her artistry, Kira is a committed advocate for female representation in the music industry. She emphasizes that being “a singer‑songwriter, guitarist, and manager of a band” is still rare—and she embraces the importance of outspoken women in music who push beyond stereotypes.
Local Legend Nate LaPointe (Barley, Cubensis, Bobby Womack and others) will be supporting this evening of intimate soulful singer songwriting with a 3 song set, setting the stage for his shutter down Tuesday Oct 28.
