Shrines of Remembrance ~ Samhain Day Retreat w/ Glenda

A “Shrine of Remembrance” is a devotional art piece for reflecting, connecting and honoring our beloved dead. This is an immersive day retreat experience you’ll be encouraged into your heart, invite ritual, and invoke devotional creativity. You will be led to connect and design a precious masterpiece during Samhain, an ideal time to honor our deceased loved ones and share their stories.
Using personal photos, an 8”x 8” cradled wood panel, vintage papers, assorted ephemera, quality mixed media art supplies and encaustic medium, we’ll create sacred shrines to honor a loved one.
Once completed, each shrine can be surrounded with offerings and/or meaningful mementos. They can hang on a wall, sit on a shelf or altar.
Photos must be emailed to Glenda in advance! You will receive an email of where to send information to leading up to the event after you have registered. Also, please bring little bits and pieces that remind you of the loved one you would like to honor!
Included in this experience is tea served fresh to us by Stephanie Layne of Thistle Bee Tea.
We will also be guided by Sarah Monroe through a soft ceremony to bless our beloved shrines.

Glenda is a life-long seeker, maker and connector. She owes her curiosity and passion for creativity to her Grandmother, Letha, who plopped her down at an old Singer Sewing machine at age five. For 60 years, she's still embracing the mystery and magic, crafting her way through life. Her studio 'Creative Communion' (Pendleton Art Studios Middletown) is celebrating its 11th year as a sacred place where creativity is a portal to presence and community. Her jam is settling into circles, encouraging collective wisdom and telling stories through evocative collage. Life is art and hers is rooted in values of safety and belonging. Glenda is a rebel hearted seasoned teaching artist, event host, activist, leader and community builder

PARKING: The Davis-Linden Building enforces a “no parking without a pass.” All guests are asked to park in Guest Parking located on Davis Avenue unless they have ADA needs. Please do not park in the main courtyard as this is reserved for individuals who have accessibility needs and tenants of the Davis-Linden Building.
