Janmashtami is the one of the most significant festivals in the bhakti tradition. It is a celebration of joy, love, and divinity revolving around the all-attractive form of God, Krishna, who takes the incarnation of a dashing cowherd boy who steals the hearts of the inhabitants of Vrindavan. This celebration is observed by devotees with a whole day fast, cooking Krishna's feast, decorating, kirtan, hearing the glories of Lord Krishna, and worshipping Sri Sri Radha Sharadbihari and Sri Sri Nitai Gaurachandra at midnight with a roaring kirtan and arati.
