Shrewsbury Prison is one of the UKs oldest prisons. With it’s long history of executions, foul treatment and unusual deaths there’s no shortage of dark history hidden just waiting to be discovered.
The Victorian Prison that stands today was originally built over a Georgian Prison, with many of it’s Georgian features still there today such as the Georgian Tunnels that the newer prison was built over. There has been a prison on the site since 1793. The original building was constructed by Thomas Telford and the present prison building was constructed in 1877. The prison took female convicts until 1922.
Between 1902 and 1961 there were several executions by hanging for the very serious crime of murder. Executed prisoners were then buried in unmarked graves on the Prison grounds.
With many bangs being heard in the corridors, cell doors crashing shut, the sounds of people’s agonising calls and shadow figures there’s no surprise that people come back time and time again to this incredible prison.
What is included :-
You will work in smaller and more personal groups.
You’ll take part in a variety of activities such as glass divination, table tipping, seances and ouija boards.
Full use of any equipment such K-ll, trigger objects and ghost meters, REM Pods and much more.
You will have multiple refreshment breaks throughout the evening and a designated smoking and vaping area for those who need it.
A fully trained first aider, first aid kit and certification on display.
Knowledgeable hosts who will be willing answer any questions you have.
