Shrek the Musical follows the ogre Shrek, who seeks solitude in his swamp but finds it invaded by fairy-tale creatures banished by the short-tempered Lord Farquaad. To regain his swamp, Shrek agrees to rescue Princess Fiona for Farquaad, a task he undertakes with his new companion, Donkey. Along the way, Shrek and Fiona discover a hidden secret about the princess, and the story explores themes of friendship, self-acceptance, and believing in who you are, despite what others may think.
