Showroom Shorts - April 2026

Schedule

Tue, 21 Apr, 2026 at 08:30 pm

UTC+01:00

Location

Showroom Cinema | Sheffield, EN

April's Showroom Shorts is a light-hearted one, with a fair amount of comedy and fun subject matter - you'll be likely to leave the night with a spring in your step!
We'll have animation, a short Beatles doc, experimental work, a Molly Brown comedy (hurrah - she's back!), some light-hearted drama and more! We've got work from our friends at the Day One Actors Network too - and two films starring upcoming locally-based actress and writer/producer Natalie Yates.
All of the filmmakers will be there to introduce their films and have a chat with Rob Speranza, the event host and director of the SYFN.
Come join us - it's a great way to meet filmmakers who are actively making films, right here in our region! And you never know, you could get involved in what they're doing next!
On the night we will be raffling off some cinema tickets, posters and film goodies as well - you can get tickets for £1 each or £4 for a strip of five - so you get one free!
Best of all it's still a free event to attend! No tickets required!
The evening's programme:
Ashes - Dir. Peter Graves, 2026 - 7.36
Their best friend is dead. But who was the better friend? Two acquaintances meet atop a windy cliffside to give their dearly departed a final send-off. But what starts as a simple tribute soon devolves into a petty competition.
RAW. - Dir. aUDIOMAPS aka Stephen Carley, 2026 - 11.55
We find it easier to launch missiles than love our neighbour…
The flayed man. Raw meat. Shit. Decay. Meatheads rool ok. Drowning not waving. The end of days.
Eva - Dir. David Addison, 2026 - 7.19
Ada, a driven young woman, takes in her old school friend Eva, a seemingly down-on-her-luck personal trainer. What begins as a kind gesture spirals into emotional entanglement, as Eva manipulates Ada through a web of lies, gaslighting, ultimatums and threats of self-harm. As Ada’s life and finances begin to unravel, she must confront the emotional hold Eva has over her, and make a painful choice between loyalty and self-preservation. Produced by Heather Nelson.
Elevator Pitch - Dir. Molly Brown, 2025 - 2:51
As two wannabe filmmakers pitch their ideas for a shark film during a lift ride, the other passengers helpfully start throwing in ideas of their own. But will any of their ideas get made into a film?
Read These Words - Dir. Brandon Hobson, 2025 - 6.15
A speed dating event descends into chaos when a most undesirable truth is revealed.
I Am Heathcliff- Dir. Jack Todhunter, 2025 - 5.00
An AI experiment. A-Level students were asked to dramatise a key scene in the novel "Wuthering Heights". This is one of six such projects produced and is an example used to show the AI techniques we developed in the class.
In the Land of Submarines - Dir. Larry Hall, 2026 - 8:16
A short documentary about the most unlikely hit from The Beatles' "Revolver" album, plus a brief look at some memorabilia PLUS a quirky music video inspired by that "unlikely hit".
Temper Temper - Dir. Tom Pickering, 2025 - 7.28
A deadly fight breaks out as two office workers come to blows over unknown reasons. It's been a very bad day...
Showreel Clips: Day One Actors Network- Dir. Jade Strain, 2025 - 11:30
The Day One Actors Network, fronted by Jade Strain have been making short drama clips featuring locally-based actors. We've selected some of the best scenes for you to check out, on the big screen!
