Showing of 'Three Alcoholics' + Q&A + writing workshop
About this Event
Three Alcoholics: A New Play in Development
As part of Recovery Month, Theatre in Flow and Rochdale Recovery Communities invite you to experience theatre differently.
Three Alcoholics is a new play by Liz Mytton exploring addiction, recovery, trauma and the complex relationships between three women from the same family. During the session, you'll watch three scenes from this work-in-progress before joining a series of creative, audience-led conversations.
Inspired by the work of Brazilian theatre-maker Augusto Boal, this event uses participatory theatre to move beyond simply watching a performance. After each scene, you'll be invited to reflect, discuss and respond through accessible writing exercises, exploring the characters' choices and imagining what could happen next.
Boal believed theatre should be a rehearsal for real life—a space where everyone can question, challenge and imagine change. This event embraces that philosophy, placing your ideas and experiences at the heart of the creative process.
Together we'll ask one final question:
How should the story end?
Your responses will help shape the next draft of Three Alcoholics.
Please note: This event contains themes of addiction, domestic abuse and childhood trauma. Participation is welcomed but never expected.
