Does your student love animals? 🐾🦒
The Hattiesburg Zoo is looking for young wildlife enthusiasts to take the stage at Show and Tail on Saturday, September 12, 2026!
Students in grades 5th – 8th and High School are invited to give a 5-minute presentation about their favorite wild animal or an animal-related topic while using a fun educational display item to help tell their story. Bring a fossil, model, artwork, costume, LEGO® creation, poster, or another creative visual aid!
🦒 Presentation Categories
• Why ________ Is the Best Animal! (Wild animals only—no pets.)
• Things We Ought to Know (Share interesting facts about wildlife, habitats, conservation, animal behavior, endangered species, and more.)
⏰ Presentation Times
• Grades 5th –8th: 11:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m.
• High School: 1:00–3:00 p.m.
Only 15 presenters per age group will be selected, so be sure to register early! Selected presenters receive FREE Zoo admission on the day of the event, and guests can cheer them on with regular Zoo admission. Audience members will even get to vote for their favorite presentation!
🚫 Please note: Live animals, pets, weapons, dangerous items, open flames, strong odors, and other prohibited items are not allowed. Educational display items such as fossils, bones, taxidermy, models, artwork, costumes, dioramas, and posters are welcome.
📝 Apply by August 31!
Presenters will be notified on September 1st.
