Every opportunity available to us today exists because of leaders who dared to see beyond what was and shape what could be. When we stand on their shoulders, we gain the vantage point to imagine what comes next.
This January, just days after MLK Jr. Day, Shoulders of Giants convenes an intimate leadership lunch centered on The Unfinished Work, a conversation moderated by Carmen Best that examines accountability, justice, and what true opportunity looks like after a sentence ends.
This is a high-level dialogue bringing together leaders with lived experience and institutional authority. Entrepreneurs, artists, technologists, and equity innovators who have moved from incarceration to world-class impact will reflect on what progress actually requires after the policy, after the speech, after the easy acknowledgments.
Together, they will explore what it means to lead when systems stop paying attention, how responsibility shows up in practice, and why meaningful change is not a moment in time, but a mission carried forward daily.
Guests will enjoy the Columbia Tower Club’s world-renowned signature buffet lunch before and during the conversation.

This leadership lunch includes a curated auction benefiting Level Up Home, the community partner supporting individuals returning home from incarceration through housing, coaching, and belonging. Proceeds support structures that restore dignity and momentum, not charity, but pathways forward. Participation is optional, the impact is real.
