We start the year with a bang with our screening New Beginnings this next week at Z-Bar.
We will be screening three short films with a Q&A with the directors and of course, make sure to make the time to have a drink with us and the directors at Z-Bar.
Don't forget that you will be able to vote for your favorite film in the end of the screening for our 2024/2025 competition.
Every vote counts, specially as we're now at the end of the race 🙂

PROGRAM
Short #1: "Las flores", Miguel Goya, Tin Wilke
Documentary, 19min
The electronic eyes of their cell phones observe the three protagonists, three Argentinian migrants in Berlin, on their journey to an industrial flower farm in the search of work during Germany's first Lockdown. Between selfies and ephemeral voice messages glimpses the disillusioning destiny of a youth who migrated to Europe in search of a different future.
Short #2: "Chicken", Anna Benner
Animation, 8min
What do we burn when our world is already on fire?
A woman running from a terrible relationship finds herself eye to eye with a chicken. They share a moment, a cigarette and a desire to burn down everything around them to soothe their respective wounds.
A painted flight of fancy about the elation that comes with breaking out of a cycle of pain.
Short #3: "Sky like silk. Full of oranges", Betina Kuntzsch
Animation, Documentary 10 min
"n spring 1990 – between the fall of the Berlin Wall and German reunification – the first former GDR citizens fly to Mallorca. Mallorca is a place of longing for many East Germans, known to them from their West German relatives’ colourful postcards. Suddenly, anything seems possible.
An animated documentary film; a collage of postcards, holiday photos and documents.
We could not be happier for starting the year with these amazing short films that we're looking forward to share with you.
The screening will take place at the Z-Bar Berlin and will start at 20h30 but make sure to come early to save a seat.
The entrance is free as always.
