Short Film Screenings
Short Film Corner is a space to showcase the many short films being made in India. We bring films from diverse regions by filmmakers devising bold, new ways to experiment with form and technique. The screenings will be followed by an open dialogue between the filmmakers and the audience.
Ayesha
Hindi with English Subtitles (12 mins)
Ayesha, a Muslim house-help, takes on a one-day job in a Hindu household. She wants to be upfront about her identity, but when she introduces herself, the homeowner mishears her name to be ‘Asha’. Ayesha finds out how people treat you when they think you are “one of them”. But what would happen if her identity is revealed?

In a fading Irani café, a lonely woman waits for an online date who never arrives. As hope flickers and fades over three tense evenings, her imagination blurs the line between longing and reality. But is this a tale of modern love or is there something suspicious about the café owner?

In the heart of Mumbai, a lower-middle-class family of five lives in a cramped one-room kitchen. Raj and Priya, dreaming of a better life, suffer a humiliating experience on their anniversary at the beach, caught up in a police raid. Returning home, Raj, unable to sleep that night, finds solace on the terrace with his father.
