The Lottery Day: A Celebration of Shirley Jackson's Classic Story "The Lottery"

So begins the iconic short story of a small town and their annual ritual, a story that shocked readers of The New Yorker back in June of 1948 so much that thousands of angry letters poured in, subscriptions were canceled, and Shirley Jackson's legacy as one of the greatest American writers of the 20th century was set in *stone*.
With permission granted from the Shirley Jackson Estate, I'm excited to read "The Lottery" with those brave enough to gather at Old Haunts Bookshop, 8789 Auburn Folsom Rd Suite C in Granite Bay, CA on Saturday, June 27, 5 PM. This event is free.
No purchase is required though as always we will have plenty of Shirley Jackson's masterpieces available, from novels to story collections to her memoirs and even the middle grade history of the Salem Witch Trials.
We'll have some light refreshments. After the reading and discussion, maybe we'll even have a fun recreation of the lottery... with no stones, of course!
