Your Summer of Triathlons starts early this year. With a full season of fantastic events ahead in southern Tasmania, our Calendar has been designed to motivate you, to get you ready and keep you ready while enjoying some great locations and being part of an amazing community.
The Gala Day Race of The Triathlon South Summer Series
Welcome to the Shipwrights Arms Hotel Seven Mile Beach Triathlon brought to you by Triathlon South.
This event has an Olympic distance race and is a perfect lead into Shipwrights Arms - Long Course Triathlon Its also Tas Triathlon State Series Race and State Standard Distance Triathlon Championship Race. We also have WQE Olympic Aquabike race and Triathlon South Club ‘Triathlete of the Year’ points race.
We have Six races being offered: Triathlon Standard (Olympic), Sprint and Short Course distances. The Olympic distance event is the main race of the day and the race that is used for club points calculation. Youth race in the Short Course and Juniors in the Sprint for points in the Club Points.
There is also the option of a Sprint Duathlon or a Standard (Olympic) WQE AquaBike.
We are also very lucky to have award winning Pete McKenna’s Try a Tri TRYstars series for the younger athletes 7 to 12 years olds who love to Swim, Bike and Run at the Shipwrights Arms Hotel Seven Mile Beach Triathlon Race racing starts for TRYstars at 8.30am with registration open at 8.00am. TRYstars options:
• 7-9yrs: Swim 100m/Run 750m/Ride 2km
• 10-12yrs: Swim 200m/Run 1.5km/Ride 4km

Please note: ONLINE entry only. Late Entries after 4pm on the day before the Race Day add $20 LATE FEE. (If you are a late entry after 4pm you need to: do an online entry, on race day get to registration early and advise you are a late entry).

* Race 1: Sunday, 18th January 2026 at 9:30am – Olympic, Sprint, and Short Course Triathlon, and a Sprint Duathlon and Standard (Olympic) WQE AquaBike plus TRYstars
* Race 2: Sunday 22nd February 2026 Time: TBC – Long Course, Sprint and Short Course Triathlon, and a Sprint Duathlon and AquaBike, plus TRYstars.
* Race 3: Sunday, 22th March 2024 at 10:00am - Sprint and Short Course Triathlon, and a Sprint Duathlon and AquaBike, plus TRYstars. (incorporating Teams Triathlon Challenge)

Event distances:
Triathlon:
* Olympic: 1500m | 40km | 10km (age rules apply: 14 year olds can only compete as part of a team, 15yos+ can enter as a solo participant)
* Sprint: 750m | 20km | 5km (age rules apply: 13 year olds can only compete as part of a team, 14
year olds can enter as a solo participant)
* Short Course: 375m | 13km | 2.5km (age rules apply: 12 year olds can complete solo and/or as part of a team)
Duathlon:
* Sprint: 2.5km | 20km | 5km (age rules apply: 13 year olds can only compete as part of a team, 14
year olds can enter as a solo participant)
Aquabike:
* Standard (Olympic): 1500m | 40km (age rules apply: 14 year olds can only compete as part of a team, 15
year olds can enter as a solo participant)
Age Category:
Note: Age as at 31 st of December 2025 for this season for Male and Female:
Tas Triathlon State Series and Standard Distance Championship: 12-13 years (SC race distance) (Youth Series), 14-15 years (Sprint race distance) (Youth Series), 16-17 years (Sprint race distance), 18-19 years (Sprint race distance), 20-24 years, 25-29 years, 30-34 years, 35-39 years, 40-44 years, 45-49 years, 50-54 years, 55-59 years, 60-64 years, 65-69 years, 70-74 years, 75-79 years, 80+ years
Triathlon South Club Points:
* Youth (12-13) - Youth are only eligible for Club points in the Short Course
* Junior (14-19) - Juniors are only eligible for Club points in the Sprint
* Senior (20-39)
* Veteran (40-49)
* Super Veteran (50+)
The Race Day Information:
• Race start: Olympic 9:30am, Sprint will start at 10am. Short Course will start 5min later (for safety reasons). AquaBike will start with the Olympic race. The Duathlon will start at the same time as the Sprint Triathlon.
• Registration and transition opens at 8.00am and closes at 9.00am
• Race Brief at 9.05am
• Presentations approx. 12.30pm
How much will it cost?
Entry fees
* Triathlon South Members: Olympic $90, Sprint $70 & Short Course $60 (INCLUDES Member discount of $10 when registered through JustGo account)
* Triathlon Australia Members: Olympic $100, Sprint $80 & Short Course $70 (when registered through JustGo account)
* Non-Members of Triathlon Australia: Olympic $120, Sprint $100 & Short Course $90
* Juniors receive a $30 discount on entry fee
* Teams Olympic $120, Sprint $100 & Short Course $90
Late Entries after 4pm before race day add $20 LATE FEE to the above. ONLINE entry only.
TEAMS: *Note team entry has changed! The first team member needs to register on the teams entry ticket and pay for the event. You must choose the team option. At registration we will have a waver form for all team members to sign and you will need to nominate your team name. On Race Day all team members will use the same race bib number and timing chip.
Prizes
Tas Triathlon will be presenting Medals for the State Standard Distance Triathlon Championships (* Youth (12-13) in the Short Course & * Junior (14-19) - in the Sprint) for competitors that are Members of Triathlon Tasmania. Medals are presented for Male and Female in their respective age groups.
In addition to Tas Triathlon presentation spot prizes will be presented.
Where do we race?
Triathlon South are hosting this event in the seaside location of Seven Mile Beach, in the Clarence
Municipality, which is adjacent to the Hobart Airport and approximately 15 minutes’ drive to the City
of Hobart.
The success of previous races at this venue has cemented this unique event in our summer calendar and what better way to enjoy this beautiful part of Tassie. It was recently winner of Triathlon Event of the Year.
