Shiitake Mushroom Production

Extension Master Gardeners in Cherokee County will teach a hands on Shiitake Mushroom class. The class will be taught March 15, 2025 at 10:00 AM at our classroom located at 699B Connaheeta Street in Murphy, NC. Pre-registration is required along with the payment. Description of Class

The class will include a 1 hour of classroom and 1 hour hands on instruction. There will be an overview about cultivation of mushrooms types, uses, and cultivating methods for different types of mushrooms. The remaining presentation will focus on growing Shiitake Mushrooms which will include history, types, uses, cultivating methods and hands on workshop including the seeding of Oak logs which participants will take home to grow Shiitake Mushrooms.
