1st Hill Bounding Session; meets WEEKLY: TUES & THUR, 10 AM at Hickory Hills (until we have snow), sessions ~60 minutes & cover several miles. Meet in the parking lot, near the lodge. Volunteer Leader: Carrie Cunningham. Bring hiking or short XC ski poles & your own H20. Dress for the weather in comfortable clothes (same as for running or brisk walking). Wear running shoes or lightweight hiking boots. New hill bounders welcome! You do NOT need to attend the 1st session to participate ongoing WEEKLY TUES & THUR. "Hill bounding" is a XC ski training technique that mimics the action of rapidly striding up a steep hill on skis, emphasizing explosive leg drive and a powerful arm swing with poles, essentially simulating the feeling of "bounding" forward with each step, designed to build leg power and explosive strength crucial for uphill skiing, often practiced on a grassy hill with ski poles for the most accurate simulation; think of a deer bounding through the forest with quick, powerful leaps.
