It's time to unleash the BEAST in your BRONCO as we ascend into the Shenandoah Mountains via Long Run Road Trail! This beautiful 15.5 mile trail with breathtaking views, elevation changes of 1,700ft to 3,600ft, and scenic overlooks, will have you saying WOW! You'll be more than ready for a cold refreshment and some good food when we land at Cave Hill Farms Brewery!

* We will be leaving from BASS PRO SHOPS, 1150 Lake Ridge Pkwy, ASHLAND VA 23005
**** THIS WILL BE THE ONLY MEET UP LOCATION TO START THE RIDE- IF YOUR COMING FROM THE EASTERN AREAS PLEASE PLAN ACCORDINGLY TO BE HERE BY 8AM****
****PLEASE ARRIVE FULLY FUELED READY TO ROLL ****
* DEPARTURE from here will be at 8am ( due to the time it takes to run the trail we are getting a earlier start)
**2 Way handheld radios / Gmrs radios are a Must ! Don't forget yours! Cell service is spotty **
** BRING you and your family snacks and drinks - there's no 7-11 on top the mountain ! **
SAFTEY/ DRIVING TIPS
-This is a 2 way trail. Be aware of your situation at all times.
-Spotters will be calling out traffic to make sure the group is aware of any oncoming traffic going in and coming out.
-Watch for wildlife !
-Sharp Curves & Elevation changes with drop offs. Do not cut corners ! Drive at your own risk.
-Respect the trail and nature! Please do not liter or leave anything on the trail! Take out what you bring in !
ITENERARY
-departing Bass Pro Shops 8am off exit 89 on I-95
-We will travel 295 to 64 west
-QUICK restroom pit stop at MM 168 (Manakin-Sabot)
- We will then travel 64 west to exit 136 towards Gordonsville Va
- From here we will be taking 33 west towards Elkton Va
**We will be stopping at the BP -596 Mt. Hermon Rd, Elkton 22827 for Fuel and to meet up with the rest of the group. Also will hold a quick Driver/ Safety meeting at this location.
THIS WILL BE THE MEET UP SPOT FOR THOSE JOING IN FROM THE WEST
-We'll continue on towards Harrisonburg turning onto Stone Spring road as to bypass the town and all the traffic as much as possible.
-We'll continue to work our way out towards Hopkins Gap road, ending up at the Gospel Hill Mennonite Church which is at the beginning of Long Run Road Trail.
TRAILHEAD
-Although this can all be done in 2wd. When we reach the end of the gravel road we will be asking everyone to go into 4wd for safety reasons.
- This is a 15.5 mile trail to the end. It will take and estimated time of about 1.5 hrs to reach the end and the same time frame coming back down. (We spent a good 3 hrs on this trail testing it) This is a Forestry Service keep road so it is in really good shape. About the first 6 miles is a wide open gravel road that twists and turns as we climb up into the mountains. The trail will then turn into a Dirt and partially gravel trail with small rocks and some obstacles ( Very novice run)
-There will be a little mud, nothing that we will be submerged in.
-This part of the trail is fully open with no low hanging branches, trees or brush that will cause any pinstripes (Scratches) or damage all the way to the end.
-we will be turning around at the end and coming back out the same way. Trail guides will be organizing the turn arounds.

This is optional only if you want to go. Your welcome to depart and head home once the trail is complete.

TOTAL TIME TRAVELED
-Bass pro shops Ashland to BP Elkton VA - about 2 hrs with the pitstop on 64 (115 miles)
-Bp Elkton Va to Long Run Road Trail ( Gospel Hill Church) - about 40 mins (30 miles )
- Trailhead - 30 miles roundtrip ( 3-3.5 hrs)
- Trailhead to Cave Hill Farms Brewery - 35 mins (22 miles)
If you are returning back to the Bass Pro Shops Area(Richmond) please plan accordingly for a full day!
