There is only one entity in Tennessee tasked with protecting our drinking water supply -- Shelby County Groundwater Board!
The Board will be voting on the new well permit fees that could FINALLY bring in some regular funding to create groundwater protection programs. We need you there to let them know we expect follow through!
With your help, the Shelby County Commissioners took the final vote in June to update the Groundwater Ordinance. This now clearly empowers the Board to “review and approve inspection and permit fees” so that they can carry out the Shelby County Health Department’s groundwater and septic programs.
Now, the balls in their court and we need to make sure the SCHD and Groundwater Board understand that the community is not backing down or forgetting -- we need to keep this momentum going!
