About this Event
Join us for SheJumps Wild Skills Junior Ski Patrol, a day camp at Hoodoo Ski Resort on Sunday, February 23rd, 2025! Girls will learn mountain safety and first aid while working with the strong women of Hoodoo Ski Ski Patrol. This event is intended for intermediate to expert skiers/snowboarders ages 8-15. We welcome all girls - transgender and cisgender, as well as non-binary youth to participate in this event.
Note: For girls aged 15+, we are looking for Junior SheJumps Volunteers to help with each group. We will happily waive the cost of the event for older girls looking for school volunteer hours who are willing to help out our SheJumps volunteers the day of the event.
Program Summary
This SheJumps Wild Skills event is structured as a full-day camp experience. Parents/legal guardians drop off participants for the day, who are then split into teams based on their age and ski/boarding ability. Throughout the day, participants are taught a range of outdoor skills that are utilized by ski patrollers to keep the mountain safe. We will work alongside patrollers and volunteers to learn more about the many facets of mountain safety and first aid.
Skier/Boarder Ability Level: This event is intended for intermediate to expert skiers & snowboarders. As part of the registration process, you will be asked a variety of questions about how confident the participant is on particular runs at Hoodoo Ski Resort to help us determine which group they are best suited for.
Cost: This event costs $40, with an option to add on the cost of a lift ticket.
Lift Tickets: We have partnered with Hoodoo to be able to offer discounted lift tickets for $10 for participants 11 and up. If your child is aged 10 or under, they ski for free at Hoodoo Ski Area! All participants that need lift tickets (i.e. don't have a season pass or access to their own ticket) should denote that at checkout.
Schedule for the Day*
On the day of the event, you’ll check in at registration which will be open from 9:00 - 9:30 am PST at the Fireplace Room, upstairs, in the North Lodge. At registration you will meet up with your team for the day. The teams will consist of 1 ski patroller, 1-2 SheJumps volunteers, and 8 participants of similar ski ability.
At 9:30 am, we will start the day with an all teams morning meeting covering ski patrol basics, weather, and our agenda for the day.
From there, teams will break out and proceed to their various stations throughout the mountain. Stations cover topics including first aid, mountain safety, toboggan use, snowmobile safety, gear caches, weather, and avalanche basics & prevention. Along the way, there will be free skiing, surprises, and games, of course!
Lunch is *NOT* included in the ticket price, but all teams will eat together in a reserved area.
The afternoon will wrap up with the remainder of station visits and completion certificates handed out at 3:30 pm.
