You'll meet others interested in Stoic philosophy, read about Stoic ideas and discuss them in an informal and friendly environment.

The meeting will be in two parts, each lasting an hour. In the first hour, we will carry on reading Lessons in Stoicism by John Sellars, a short and very accesible introduction to Stoicism. This month we continue with Chapter 7 on How We Live Together. No previous experience is necessary but to get the most out of the session we would recommend that you read Chapter 7 beforehand. If you have not attended any meetings before, you may also like to read Chapters 1-6.

In the second hour, we'll talk about how the technique of journaling (and morning and evening reviews) can embed Stoic ideas and help you apply them to your daily life. We'll discuss different styles of journaling and give some practical examples.

What is Stoicism?
Stoicism is a philosophy that originated in ancient Greece but is still practised in modern form today. It emphasises rationality and excellence of character, while seeing all people as part of an interconnected community. By distinguishing what is in our power (our thoughts, judgments and actions) and what is not (external events, luck and circumstances), and cultivating virtues like wisdom, justice, courage and moderation, we can achieve emotional resilience and inner peace. It's a practical guide for navigating life's challenges with tranquility.
