About this Event
She Writes Bravely is a restorative writing circle (meets wellness fair) for women to explore and honor the wisdom gleaned through the seasons of her life. So much of a woman’s experience is giving of ourselves to others–family, community, career.
So much of a woman’s experience is also operating within a cultural system that still fears our autonomy, our strength, our intelligence, and, perhaps most importantly, our voice.
Perhaps now, more than ever, it’s time for women’s voices, women’s wisdom, and women’s power. When we use our voices, it’s an act of resistance, resilience, and restoration.
In this three-hour restorative writing circle, participants will first be guided in exploring what “seasons” means to them, what they feel called to share, to whom they wish to share their wisdom with, and in what writing form they wish to share this wisdom (letter, poem, listicle, essay…)
They’ll set an intention for their piece and then be given quiet and reflective writing time to begin working on their “capsule” piece (which will be defined for them.)
There will also be time for participants to connect with the local wellness practitioners who are joining this event to learn about their services and maybe even experience their offerings–a 10-minute facial, perhaps, or a mini reiki session…This is a chance for you to explore what restorative activities your mind, body, and spirit need in this season of your life.
All those who use she/her pronouns are welcome to attend.
This experience may also be particularly restorative and meaningful to those who already experience the feelings of being silent and unseen.
Refreshments and light fare from local establishments will be provided to nourish you.
Each participant will be given a raffle ticket and be a part of a prize drawing.
Please bring a notebook and pen, or a laptop if you prefer. Some writing materials will be provided.
ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:
Alyssa Berthiaume (known by most as Ally and published under A.Y.) is a mompreneur, author, ghostwriter, and writing guide with a superpower for hearing between the lines. She guides badass and brilliant, loving, and soulful people in writing their incredible personal stories of grit, hope, and triumph meant to inspire their audience, transform the masses, and change the 'effin' world.
She is the founder of The Write Place, Right Time, her virtual boutique professional writing services where she serves entrepreneurs, leaders, and visionaries internationally to bring their books to the world via her book coaching, developmental editing, and ghostwriting services. Her genre of choice is nonfiction with a specialty in memoirs.
Berthiaume is also the award-winning author of Dear Universe, I Get it Now: Letters on the Art and Journey of Being Brave and Being Me and the award-winning co-author of Do Not Write a Book…Until You Read This One. She has an M.F.A. and B.A. in creative writing and graduate certificates in English Composition and Women’s Studies.
She is a native Vermonter, practicing Ally and advocate, recovering middle child, wannabe superhero, and a mom who’s pretty sure she’s “winging it”. If you can catch her away from the keyboard, she's probably drinking Maple Lattes in a coffee shop, watching The Princess Bride for the thousandth time, spending too many hours in a bookstore adding more books to her must-read list, or having a movie and game night with her husband and son.
