She Kills Monsters follows Agnes Evans, a seemingly ordinary woman whose life is upended when her younger sister Tilly dies tragically in a car accident. Agnes and Tilly had never been close — Agnes lived in the mainstream world while Tilly immersed herself in Dungeons & Dragons and other “nerdy” passions. After Tilly’s death, Agnes finds a D&D module her sister created and, eager to understand her sibling better, enlists Tilly’s friends to help her play through the game. As Agnes journeys deeper into Tilly’s fantasy realm — battling monsters, forging alliances, and confronting brutal challenges — she discovers hidden truths about her sister’s life, her own capacity for courage, and the nature of loss, love, and acceptance. The story moves between the real world and Tilly’s imagined Dungeons & Dragons campaign, blending high-octane fantasy adventure with emotional discovery.
