She can really dance! Women’s Training with World Champion Almendra NavarreteWe are excited to announce this special collaboration between VLS and LEC – Melbourne!
A 5-week Salsa training experience designed for women who want to move with awareness, control and authenticity.
Led by World Champion dancer Almendra, this course goes beyond learning steps. It is a structured and intentional training space where technique, body awareness and expression come together.
Over five Saturday's (1.5 hours each week), we will explore Salsa and overall dancing from the inside out - building strong technical foundations so movements feel organic and powerful. You’ll develop a deeper understanding of the salsa vocabulary and learn how to embody it with clarity and control.
Dates:
Saturday April 18th & 25th, May 2nd, 9th, 16th.
This training includes:
• Technical foundations for Salsa On2 (Mambo), building clarity, precision, and fluidity in movement
• Body alignment, balance, coordination, and mindful control of your movements
• Mobility, flexibility, and body conditioning to support graceful, safe, and effortless dancing
• Breath awareness, helping you stay energised, connected and free from tension while moving
• Groove, style, and character
• Using your body as a channel for musical interpretation and emotional expression, connecting your inner feeling to every movement.
We’ll also integrate elements from other movement styles such as street jazz and floor work to expand your versatility and body awareness beyond salsa.
For 90 minutes, you’ll be fully present, focused and connected. You’ll leave each session feeling stronger, lighter and more connected to yourself.
This is a progressive 5-week block, designed to build week by week. Commitment to the full course is encouraged to experience real transformation.
Course Requirements:
This training is designed for women with prior salsa experience who are ready to refine and deepen their technique.
Participants must have:
• Minimum 1 year of Salsa experience
• Basic to intermediate knowledge of Salsa On2 (New York Style / Mambo)
• Ability to recognise and dance confidently on On2 timing
• Comfort training in a structured, progressive environment
This is not a beginner course.
