đź’« Why Bring Children to Hear the Ten Commandments? đź’«
The Lubavitcher Rebbe—Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson, of righteous memory—explained the special importance of bringing children, even the youngest infants, to hear the Ten Commandments on Shavuot morning.
Before giving the Torah, G-d asked the Jewish people for guarantors that the Torah would be cherished and observed. Many suggestions were offered, but only one was accepted:
👧👦 “Our children will be our guarantors.”
The Rebbe taught that when children hear the Ten Commandments on Shavuot, the words of Torah become engraved upon their hearts and minds. Through them, the inspiration spreads even more deeply to parents and grandparents as well.
Today, thanks to the Rebbe’s encouragement, Shavuot celebrations filled with Torah, joy, games, and ice cream have become treasured memories for Jewish children around the world. 🍦📖✨
Let’s make sure to bring all our precious “guarantors” to synagogue on the first day of Shavuot!
