Film Screening & Panel DiscussionThe endangered Great Lakes Piping Plovers are back in Waukegan! Join the Lake County Audubon Society initiative, Sharing Our Shore – Waukegan, for a special evening celebrating these fragile but fierce shorebirds.
We’ll show the latest version of the film “Sharing Our Shore and the Return of the Piping Plover to Waukegan Shore”and then open the floor to your questions with a panel of dedicated volunteer monitors.
Over the past season, these volunteers contributed nearly 2,000 hours to protecting the plovers and documenting the critical need to safeguard their habitat. This same shoreline provides essential food and shelter for more than 300 bird species that share the space.
Don’t miss this opportunity to learn, ask questions, and connect with the people working to ensure the future of the Piping Plovers in Lake County.
Lake County Audubon Society has a variety of speakers on the first Monday of the month October through May. All (including children accompanied by an adult) are welcome to come for the free programs and refreshments 6:30pm to 8:30pm.
*Please note the time change to 6:30pm.
We will be in the meeting room at the Aspen Drive Branch of Cook Memorial Library.
