About this Event
Shaping Legacy is a three-year grant funded project that aims to critically examine the monuments and memorials in San Francisco’s Civic Art Collection and to reimagine the future of monuments and memorials in the city.
The San Francisco Arts Commission invites you to attend a Community Workshop led by our consultant HR&A Advisors with community engagement consultants, New Monuments Taskforce.
Community Workshop overview:
- Presentation on the equity research done to date on the SFAC Civic Art Collection
- Workshop and participatory group discussions around equity in the SFAC Civic Art Collection. What stories are currently being told through the civic art collection? What stories are missing? What stories would you like to see?
These workshops are an opportunity to engage in open, transparent and respectful community dialogue that center repair and reconciliation. The duration of the workshop is 2 hours.
Venue is ADA accessible and translation or interpretation services may be available with advanced request. Please note that photographs and/or video footage may be taken at the event. We encourage participants to bring a refillable water bottle and masking will be encouraged, but not required. If we reach capacity for the venue, we will open up a wait list. All 3 Community Workshops will have the same content and format, offered at 3 different venues, days and times.
