Join us for a shanty singing workshop at Beverley Library, with Professor Keith Ayling and Choir Leader Kate Ayling - founders of Saltburn Smugglers.
Together in the workshop, participants will explore a mixture of classic shanties and original songs of the sea, delving into North Yorkshire’s smuggling history, alongside vocal warm-ups and confidence boosting gems.
The workshop is suitable for singers of all ages and abilities, as well as those who are curious about sea shanties and their origins. Having worked with hundreds of groups and schools across the UK, Keith and Kate bring a wealth of experience in singing and artist development.
Keith is currently Professor of Songwriting and Artist Development Lead at Leeds Conservatoire, as well as Chair of Education for the IVORS Academy.
