Step into a slower, smokier Shanghai night.
Shanghai Slow Bal Serenade brings together The Red Pavilion Jazz Band, vintage shidaiqu from the 1930s–60s, and the elegant flow of balboa for an evening made for dancers and dreamers alike.
We’ll open the night with a beginner slow balboa lesson from 7:15–8:00pm, perfect for first-timers and curious swing dancers who want to learn this smooth, close-embrace ballroom style. No partner or experience required.
After class, the Red Pavilion Jazz Band takes the stage with a lush program inspired by old Shanghai’s dance halls and teahouses: shidaiqu classics, smoky torch songs, and swing-inflected tunes tailored to slow bal, swivels, and graceful glides across the floor. Expect a mix of romantic mid-tempos, dreamy slow drags, and vintage-inspired arrangements that keep the floor comfortably full without ever feeling rushed.
Dress to dance, linger over a cocktail, and let the neon glow and nostalgic melodies carry you back to the golden age of Shanghai nights.

Doors open at 6:45pm, beginner's lesson 7:15pm, band from 8:00-9:30pm. Walk-ins welcome any time during the show.

All events are 21+, and a valid physical ID is required for entry. Please be reminded that tables have a 2-drink minimum on Fridays and Saturdays, 1-drink minimum all other days. All sales are final.
