Our Sunday Classics series is taking a trip back to the '70s! Seventies Sundays showcases some of the most beloved films from the “New Hollywood” era on the big screen. Featuring early works from iconic filmmakers Steven Spielberg & George Lucas to eccentric hits like Harold and Maude and Smokey and the Bandit. These seven films will be a blast to watch with a crowd!
The series comes to an end in November with Hal Ashby’s SHAMPOO ! 𝗧𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗲𝘁𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗳𝗶𝗹𝗺𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝘃𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗮𝘁 hiwaytheater.org/specials
𝗔𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗲: We conclude our Seventies Sundays series with Hal Ashby’s classic satire, set on Election Day in 1968. Warren Beatty stars as George, a Beverly Hills hairdresser and lothario romantically involved with several of his clients, played by Goldie Hawn, Julie Christie, and Lee Grant (in an Academy Award-winning performance). The biting script, written by Beatty and Robert Towne, offers a sharp look back at the sexual revolution of the late ’60s. Also starring Jack Warden and Carrie Fisher in her big-screen debut.
