There are a lot of classes and teachers out there who can help you open the box of trauma, but they can't help you unpack it. They can help you go down into shadowland, but they can't help you find your way back. They can teach you how to do a breathwork technique, but they can't help you breathe through whatever came up for you. They can administer plant medicine, but cannot hold you through the experience, nor can they help you integrate back into your life.
Yes, we all have the responsibility to do our own healing work, and it's our responsibility to tell our facilitators when we need help. And also yes, facilitators have a responsibility to their clients and students to either provide a whole experience, or be honest that providing a whole experience is out of their scope of practice.
Please check your teachers and facilitators out. In the beginning of my journey, I used to be a big risk taker. I'd let whoever into my energy space while they practiced as long as I didn't get a bad vibe from them. My thought was if they meant no harm, they couldn't cause any harm. Wrong. And I learned the hard way.
Today, my golden standard for choosing my own experiences is, "would I let this person into my child's energy? would I suggest this weekend experience for my child? would I trust this teacher with development of my child? would I trust this teacher to mentor my child?"
Because I am consciously reparenting myself, I must give myself as much loving care, discernment, protection, and guidance I give to my children, AND hold that level of sacred space for my students.
I am not only a teacher, but I'm also a lifelong student. When choosing new teachers for myself, I am most interested in how passionate they seem about their practice, and how long they have been fully committed to whatever they do. I ask what their motivations, mantras, philosophies, and ethics are. I'm not particularly interested in their trainings or certifications. I have a drawer full of certifications. They aren't even hung up on the wall because they aren't that important to me, but I keep them handy in case they are important to you.
I have an extensive professional network referral system to make sure you get what you need by way of learning, therapy, or an experience....whether it be me who provides those services, or someone else. My only agenda as a teacher is to help you help yourself, and sometimes that's with me, and sometimes it's not.
I do teach online because I have beloveds far away I want to connect with, but I prefer we are in person if possible. I like for us to look at each other across sunlight, moonlight, candlelight, and firelight, and sit in each other's magnetic fields. I like to know if it's ever time for us to sit in complete darkness together, we both are on that level of space-holder trust with each other.
If you're geographically far away, I'm happy to help you find a good teacher in your area, or online. If you're really heart set on joining us in this year's Mystery School and you're far away, I'll feel into what parts of this training feel good to share online.
When people jump into my classes full throttle, I make sure that choice is a made from a combination of intuition, research, and that they've been following Open Hearts long enough to know it is a container they want to be in.
