In 2006, Shadow Gallery was born into a battered city and a world of sad and dull nightlife in which the gothic/industrial scene had badly lost its way. No one was playing goth music at goth nights and what they called industrial simply wasn't. We were told that we couldn't succeed with a traditional goth night, that no one wanted it anymore, and that the scene had just moved on and we should accept it.
Yet here we remain, preparing for our 20th annual holiday event.
It's been two decades of spectacular costumes, dance-offs, the occasional horse head mask, wings, hooves, velvet, leather, feathers, glitter and lace, dark music whether swirling, driving, pounding or sometimes crushing, always with the intention of keeping alive the magic of the gothic/industrial scene and its spectrum of sound.
So as the nights grow as long and dark as they get, we're going to keep dancing.
