About this Event
Revelling as the leaves of the Canadian maple trees turned a royal crimson, Anne of Green Gables uttered ‘I'm so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers’. At Theatre of Wine we entirely agree, so channelling all the comfort and whimsy of an L. M. Montgomery novel, we are stopping to appreciate the colours, sounds and smells of the headiest season: Autumn.
As our bodies sense the dropping temperature and the falling light, we naturally reach for bottles that warm the soul. Tonight we might enjoy a spicy white Rioja to toast our return to the fireside or a red Burgundy with earthy scents that transport us to that first walk over wet leaves. Let’s not forget an orange wine to match the beautiful copper and ochre colour palette developing outside the window, and to really honour the traditions of this wonderful season, we’ll pick out something spooky for Halloween and something smoky for Bonfire Night.
No doubt you’ll want to pair these bottles with the delicious flavours that the abundant Autumn harvest brings, so as we share the stories of our wonderful wine makers we’ll also discuss some great food and wine pairings for this supremely foodie season – an unmissable feast for all the senses!
Our shop tastings start at 7.30pm and run for approximately one-and-a-half to two hours. We will taste 6-8 wines on a theme, and bread, cheese and charcuterie is provided to match with the wines. Due to the communal nature of the tasting, we are unable to cater for dietary requirements.
