About this Event
This powerful new documentary film gives voice to the experiences of sexual violence survivors in Kenya. Created in collaboration with the Survivors of Sexual Violence in Kenya Network and Wangu Kanja Foundation (WKF), the film portrays survivors’ resilience while highlighting individual and systemic struggles they face. It shows how community enables the journey from victim to survivor.
The film is based on Rights for Time research, analysing the legal, social, and public health realities endured by sexual violence survivors in Kenya and globally. This research aims to achieve Sustainable Development Goal 5 (gender equality) and Goal 16 (justice and inclusion) by gathering better evidence to prevent these crimes and protect survivors.
A panel discussion following the screening will connect the film to this vital research. The panel includes the founder and Director of the WKF, Dr Wangu Kanja, project PI, Prof Heather Flowe, and Rights for Time research fellows Dr Sarah Rockowitz, Dr Kirstin Wagner, and Laura Stevens. Please join us for this impactful event that takes a stand for justice and human dignity.
