Sewing Made Simple
About this Event
Are you looking for a new hobby or an opportunity to refresh skills you may have forgotten? Join us for a fun night of sewing. Studies show that sewing helps calm the nerves and reduce stress, so we want to help you learn to sew! Come learn the basics while creating a fun project. The class will be geared toward beginners; however all skill levels are welcome to attend.
Who: Adults interested in learning to sew or those who may want to refresh "old" sewing skills
What: We will be learning to sew a cute basket using 10" squares of fabric.
When: Tuesday, July 14, 2026, 6:00pm-8:00pm
Where: USU Extension Office at the Washington County Legacy Park (county fairgrounds), 339 South 5500 West, Hurricane, UT
What to bring: Please bring a sewing machine, if you have one, and basic sewing notions (thread, scissors, pins, etc.). If you do not have a sewing machine and would like to use one of ours, please reach out to [email protected] or call 435-301-7740 to reserve a machine. (We have a limited supply, so we prefer that you bring your own machine if possible.)
How it works: We will provide basic sewing instructions, supplies for the project, and guidance on how to make it. We will walk you through the project from preparing the fabric to constructing the basket. You are responsible for showing up, 'sew'cializing with good company, and learning a fun new project.
If you have questions, please contact the Utah State University Extension office in Washington County at 435-301-7740 or email [email protected].
