Sewing Machine Maintenance 101: How to Clean and Lubricate a Sewing Machine

Whether your sewing machine is brand new or pre-owned, proper maintenance is 🔑 to keeping it running smoothly and performing at its best for years to come. In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn how to:

• 🪛 Open and access the parts that need cleaning and lubrication
• 🧼 Clean and lubricate your machine for monthly and yearly care
• 🔎 Identify key components that are the same across most machines
• 📦 Store your machine properly to maximize its performance

All cleaning supplies and lubrication will be provided 🧴. If you already have your own screwdrivers or specialized lubrication, bring them along so you can practice with your own tools.

By the end of this workshop, you’ll know exactly how to care for your machine, prevent common problems, and get the best long-term performance from every stitch. 🧵✨

With over 20 years of experience under my belt (yes, I started early!) I've honed my skills as a tailor, pattern maker, and sewing technologist. Specializing in women’s clothing, and utilizing my One Fitting method, I’ve brought countless unique garments to life, turning my clients’ visions into reality. I have deep experience with teaching sewing classes around the world I am excited to bring my expertise to The Nest.
