An Art History Talk with Michael Rose

In honor of Women’s History Month, join Providence Art Club Gallery Manager Michael Rose for a special art history talk. When the Art Club was founded in 1880 it was the first such organization to count women and men as equal voting members. Among the founders was Rosa Peckham, a Paris-trained artist who lived with May Alcott and dined with Mary Cassatt. Through the lens of Rosa’s life and work, Michael will talk about women artists in the nineteenth century and their role in founding the Art Club and the greater Providence art community.
Michael Rose is an art gallerist and writer based in Providence. The gallery manager at the Art Club since 2014, he is also the editor of . A sought after speaker, Michael has been invited to give talks at numerous galleries, museums, and colleges. Michael earned his BA in Art History at Providence College and holds a Certificate in Appraisal Studies in Fine and Decorative Arts from New York University. Learn more about him at .
This program is being presented during the Art Club's monthly Art After Dark bonus gallery and bar hours. The Club's galleries and Angell's Lane Bar will be open to the public from 4-7pm. Enjoy a cocktail while enjoying the lecture!
