Raye of Light Studio welcomes back Renee’s Stitch & Style School for Sewing Machine Basics. This workshop is the perfect introduction for true beginners or anyone who needs a relaxed refresher on the fundamentals of machine sewing. In this supportive, hands-on class, students will gain confidence using a sewing machine while learning essential skills that every sewist needs to get started.
We will cover how to properly thread a sewing machine, wind and insert a bobbin, adjust basic machine settings, sew straight and consistent seams, and become familiar with essential sewing tools and terminology. With guided, step-by-step instruction, students will practice these skills while creating a simple and functional envelope-style pillow slipcover to take home at the end of class.
Students may bring their own working sewing machine or borrow one of ours for the session. Prepared material packets will be available for purchase for $12 or students can bring their own fabric/thread: 1/3 yard printed 100% cotton fabric, one yard coordinating 100% cotton solid fabric, and one spool of matching thread.
