Ready to start sewing your own knit garments? In this hands-on workshop, you'll make the Core Tee by Closet Core Patterns while learning the essential techniques for working with jersey knits and achieving professional-looking results on your serger.


Designed for confident beginners, this class is perfect for sewists who are comfortable with basic sewing and already know how to thread and operate their serger but are new to sewing knit garments. We’ll provide the pattern and basic sewing tools. 


You'll learn:

  • About different types of knits and how they are different from wovens
  • How to lay out and cut a knit T-shirt pattern
  • How to serge knit seams with confidence
  • To attach a neckband and sleeve
  • To troubleshoot common challenges when sewing with knits


Come ready to build your confidence with knit fabrics and leave with a handmade T-shirt you'll be proud to wear!


Skill Level: Confident Beginner 


Student Supply List 

  • 1.5–2 yards of jersey knit fabric 
  • Your own serger in good working condition
  • Four cones of serger thread to match your fabric
  • Fabric scissors or rotary cutter
