Pure afrobeat heat rolls into RISING, as Seun Kuti & Egypt 80 bring their pioneering sound and live-affirming energy to Hamer Hall. Seun Kuti & Egypt 80 preserved Fela’s legacy while innovating with shades of soul and jazz.
On stage, Seun cuts an incredibly explosive and commanding presence—conducting the group with his body—leading them through rapid-fire brass blasts, bouncy guitar lines and syncopated grooves that lock in and dance towards the horizon.
Seun Kuti & Egypt 80 will be there with their latest set from album Heavier Yet (Lays the Crownless Head). Ready to move bums off seats at Hamer Hall.
In support are Naarm’s afrobeat juggernaut Public Opinion Afro Orchestra set to deliver a pulsing percussive journey blending pan-African, local and hip hop influences. Presented in collaboration with PBS FM’s Stani Goma.
