Harvest market in Daggerford, and the square is loud the way it always is — drovers, fry-pans, a blessing shouted over the noise. Except at the south corner, where the marsh-folk's stall has stood every caravan day for as long as anyone remembers. Marsh-honey, cured fish, quiet scaled traders who never haggle and never cheat. Empty. Three market days running. And this morning Mira Tarmtail's eleven-year-old went into the Lizard Marsh to find out why.
It's the week of giving thanks, so: the night ends at a table — the Smoked Hare's harvest supper — and every character gets to say what they brought home.
