On Sunday, December 15, the Sanctuary choir, accompanied by a 40-piece orchestra will continue their tradition of presenting worship services of lessons and carols at 8:15 and 10:45. Rather than perform a “cantata” by a single composer, we have chosen to select beautiful instrumental and choral works from a wide variety of composers which highlight selected familiar scriptures introduced and read by Paul McRoy. The orchestra is made up of outstanding instrumentalists from the region including faculty and students from SIUC and SEMO. This is an excellent opportunity to invite friends, neighbors, and workplace colleagues to church for an inspiring service of music unlike anything you can hear anywhere is Southern Illinois. A few of the musical highlights include:O Come, All Ye Faithful – arranged for brass and percussion
O Come, O Come, Emmanuel – a virtuoso violin solo performed by Michael Barta
O Holy Night – a favorite orchestral feature
The Dream Isaiah Saw – an absolutely stunning work for choir, orchestra and percussion
The Huron Carol – featuring soprano Paula McNally
Plus two congregational carols and an additional six works for choir and orchestra
