We have all heard 1 Corinthians 10:31 – “So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.”. That is what we should all aspire to do as Christians. If we are living our best lives, we are doing it with God’s purpose in mind and spreading the gospel. If we are spreading the gospel, we are doing God’s work and we are doing it for the glory of God and nobody else. Make sure that you have read 1 Corinthians 8-10 to prepare your heart for God’s message this weekend.

Series: “…In other words…: Do Not Be A Stumbling Block” 1 Corinthians 8-9
With all that is going on in this world, we can forget who we are and begin to act like who we were (before we accepted Jesus).
Paul used food as a metaphor in chapters 8-10, he was asked what the Corinthians should do with meat that was sacrificed to an idol. With our knowledge of one true living God, we know that meat that was sacrificed to an idol is just meat. But there are people without our knowledge that may be confused by the act of eating that meat. Do Not Be a Stumbling Block for others.
A Christian life is not one of chasing after knowledge (knowledge is fleeting and can change), it is to grow in love (love is building a strong and lasting structure/relationship).
Anything that takes your mind off Jesus is an idol.
Those without the knowledge of one true God may struggle with some of the things we do in public, it can cause confusion. Our goal is to love and not confuse. We should adapt our actions around the people we are around, so we don’t cause confusion. There are certain truths that we know because of our faith. Others may not be at that point yet, don’t encourage them to go against their conscience or you are being a stumbling block to their growth. You must think about someone other than yourself. Remember, God first, then everyone else, then yourself, that is the correct order.
We are here to draw people to Jesus, not confuse them. If your actions stumble someone and yet you do it anyway (“it is my right”) then you are sinning (even if your action is not a sin). Paul said: “I have become all things to all people so that by all possible means I might save some.” Don’t change the message, change the delivery.
When we truly comprehend what Jesus did/does for us we move into the role of servant.
Spend time daily with those outside the faith so you may help them grow. Resemble Jesus.
You can do God honoring things in a place that is not God honoring. Resemble Jesus.
Encourage and do not tear down. Resemble Jesus.
Walk with those that are confused, not causing them to stumble. Resemble Jesus.
Be in the world not of the world. Resemble Jesus.
Stay connected to God daily. Resemble Jesus.
If you have questions, pray to God, and find out what He wants you to do. Involve Him daily.
