September's Featured Artist-Joyce Friedeman

As a kid, I never thought I'd be anything else when I grew up, except an artist. In college, while painting in oils as an art major and watching movies about Jackson Pollack, I began to doubt my career choice. Influenced by 12 years of Catholic school guilt, I decided self expression was not as important as service. Thank goodness I came to my senses thirty years later, downsized my career as a Clinical Counselor, and got serious again about having fun by creating art.
I've been fortunate to be accepted into some juried shows, became an active member of the Cincinnati Art Club, Greater Cincinnati Watercolor Society and Women's Art Club. I was lucky enough to win the John Crane Watercolor Award at the VIEWPOINT juried national show in November, 2006. I continue to appreciate my teachers (past and present) and my art friends who inspire me.
