September 3rd Women of Words will be a focus on writing exercises and poetry prompts, probably setting homework too. Join us with your satchels and minds brimful of ideas in the James Reckitt Reading Room 2 – 4pm first floor Hull Central Library for the open mic.Women of Words hosts an open mic and we welcome your spoken word, verse poems, and creative writing. The open mic spots are strictly 5 mins so please do time your pieces before the day, so that we can deliver as diverse a range of topics and voices as possible, within the two hours. We will have a short break before 3pm and also the writing exercise where we will create some new work from a given prompt on the spot.
Women of Words is a platform for women writers, set up in 2016 as a response to what was then a male- dominated scene. The stage is reserved for women, but men are always and have always been, welcome in the audience.
