A DAY TO REMEMBER & A DAY TO HONOR
On September 11, 2001, our nation was changed forever.
Nearly 3,000 innocent lives were lost that day. Thousands of firefighters, police officers, EMTs, military personnel, and ordinary citizens answered the call in the face of unimaginable tragedy. They ran toward danger while others were running away.
But the story of September 11 did not end that day.
In the years since, more than 8,000 rescue workers, survivors, and downtown residents have died from illnesses associated with the attacks and their aftermath. Thousands more first responders and survivors continue to battle serious illnesses linked to their exposure to the toxic cloud of dust, smoke, and hazardous materials released when the World Trade Center towers collapsed.
The sacrifice continues to be felt more than two decades later.
This September 11, the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 288 invites our Cedarburg community to pause from the busyness of your morning and join the American Legion Family at American Legion Post 288 as we remember, reflect, and honor those whose lives were forever changed by September 11.

Take a little time out of your morning. Stand with your neighbors. Stand with our veterans. Stand with our first responders. And stand together as Americans.
We remember those we lost.

And we will never forget.
