Sep 13 Cacao Hike: connect with the plant spirit of Cacao while we hike

Meet near the trailhead/bathroom building. We will have a handheld sign with our logo (Healing Earth Energy) that also says "Cacao Hiking Group".

Is spending time outside a spiritual experience for you? Would you like it to be? Are you interested in connecting with the plant spirit of Cacao? Do you enjoy listening to the birds and gazing at trees and listening to the leaves rustle in the wind? Join us and connect with others who enjoy hiking, spending time in nature, and connecting with trees and wildlife.

We will be consuming ceremonial grade cacao (in small disc form, not liquid) as we hike. Part way through the hike we will stop and sit on the grass (you may want to bring a towel or blanket along) and share our experiences (optional, sharing is not required). Cacao is not psychoactive, but there are some contraindications, and you are encouraged to use your best judgment regarding whether and how much to consume.

Contraindications:

- Cancer / chemotherapy / radiation / immunotherapy - please DO NOT register if any of these apply to you.

In the following 3 cases, please check in with your body and perhaps your doctor, and if you feel it is appropriate to have cacao, start with a very small dose until you are familiar with how your body responds​

- Pregnancy - unless you already have an established relationship with cacao

- SSRI's (depression and anti-anxiety medications)

- Heart conditions and any other health conditions

No prior experience is required. If this appeals to you, you are welcome. Bring water to stay hydrated (highly recommended), and perhaps a snack in case you get hungry. We will NOT be disturbing the wildlife or leaving behind litter. You may wish to familiarize yourself with identifying poison ivy, oak, and sumac (just in case). Bring whatever you need to be comfortable (hat, layers, sunglasses, sunscreen, bug repellant, etc.). We will be hiking on uneven terrain. Hike at your own risk.

If you do not have a Recreation Passport on your license plate tabs, the daily fee for Michigan State Parks is $11.

Please arrive 10-15 minutes prior to the start time so we can begin on time.
