About this Event

Who is this event for?

This event is open to all! Whilst some of the talk will be geared towards newer members of the kink community, the event really is for anyone (18+) who wants to learn more about the brand, ask questions and bump into others on the kink scene.

About our hosts:

Luke + Jack have been Passionate Purveyors of Pleasure Products in the heart of Glasgow's Merchant City. This queer run sex toy shop has been helping people find the things they need for happy sex and sexual wellbeing for 16 years, always offering a friendly judgment-free, inclusive shopping experience for all genders and preferences.

What to expect:

Fun and informal talk from the human behind Barrel of Pain. We will be covering three main areas and encourage audience participation…

Housekeeping – legality and consent in BDSM:

Here we'll talk about some of the potential legal implications of BDSM practices, and how to safely navigate consent with your scene partner.

Anatomy - sexy science of impact and sensory play:

The juicy bit for all you science nerds in the kink community (I know you're there!). We'll talk a bit about the human body and give you some basic anatomy knowledge, and then how to feed that information into your sensory play. Expect some guidance on safety along with tips and tricks to torture and tantalise...

Implements – get touchy feely with Barrel of Pain pieces:

Here is our "hands-on" section, where you'll get to have a feel of some of the implements we've talked about. Get a feel for the weight of a paddle, or prod the spikes on the heretics fork. This is also a great time for curiousity, and asking any questions about how to incorporate different toys into your play.

Please note: This is not an impact play workshop and implements will not be demonstrated on humans.

Location:

Whist hosted by the fabulous Luke+Jack Adult Shop, we will be based in the event space of Bigglestones Book Shop just around the corner: 57 Glassford St, Glasgow, G1 1UG.

Accessibility:

This will be a seated event, but unfortunately due to the age and size of the building, there are stairs down to the event space. The closest diabled parking to the venue is either on Wilson Street or Virginia Street.

There will be access to a gender neutral toilet.

If you would like to discuss accessibility needs further, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Timings:

Please arrive at 6pm for a 6:15pm start time. No tickets will be available on the door, so book early to avoid disappointment.

Dress code:

No dress code as such, feel free to accessorise in sneaky kink ways, but note that this not a kink event, so nips and bits covered please.

Food & Drink:

Feel free to bring your own soft drinks and snacks, remembering to be respectful of others.

Who is Barrel of Pain?

Hey, I’m Jo, neurospicy, queer, disabled human who accidentally made a business out of a craft. I’ve been working with Luke+Jack for over a year now and finally accepted the offer to run an event. I figured if I can talk to lovely humans at markets, I can speak to a room of lovely humans who appreciate the brand I have built! Eek!

So if you’re interested in what I have to say, or just want to touch the nice pieces of wood, buy a ticket, bring a friend, support two small businesses at once and come along to this Barrel of Pain Show and Tell!
