Wistariahurst Museum is delighted to welcome friends and families into our halls once a month for our Sensory Friendly Sunday Fundays! Discover the wonders of the first floor at Wistariahurst Museum and explore each captivating room, beginning with the elegant marble lobby and continuing to the enchanting music room, all while utilizing our informative guide pamphlets in English and Spanish. Throughout the first floor, guests of all ages can interact with activities curated with our friends with sensory sensitivities in mind. Our music room will be filled with fun gross motor activities like hula hoops, hopscotch, and bounce balls that will get everyone hopping, moving, and excited. Throughout the first floor, children will be able to interact with fine motor activities, puzzles, and board games to engage with and enjoy.

That's not all! Staff are on the lookout for Winston the Wisty Lion and need your help! Winston is sleeping somewhere in our museum, but we can’t find him! During your self-guided tour, keep your eyes open for our lethargic, little lion. When you find him, don’t shout and wake him up! Take a picture or selfie with him and show your picture to our front desk attendant to get an exclusive Winston sticker! Want to have more fun with our lazy lion? Search for Winston’s clues to answer historical questions and learn more about the museum while you explore each of the rooms. Best of all, there is no time limit to this scavenger hunt, so all can enjoy this activity at their own pace. At the end of your hunt, stop by the front desk to show your answers and win a fun prize!

Our Sensory Friendly Sunday Fundays provide an excellent opportunity for families with sensory sensitivities to experience our museum in a relaxed environment at their own pace. Wistariahurst is thrilled to host these monthly open hours, allowing families to explore, discover, and connect with our museum. This is why these events will be free and accessible to the public for all to enjoy.

El Museo Wistariahurst se complace en dar la bienvenida a amigos y familias en nuestras salas una vez al mes para nuestros Domingos Sensoriales. Descubra las maravillas de la primera planta del Museo Wistariahurst y explore cada una de las cautivadoras salas, comenzando por el elegante vestíbulo de mármol y continuando por la encantadora sala de música, todo ello mientras utiliza nuestros folletos guía informativos en inglés y español. A lo largo de la primera planta, los visitantes de todas las edades podrán interactuar con actividades organizadas por nuestros amigos teniendo en cuenta las sensibilidades sensoriales. Nuestra sala de música estará repleta de divertidas actividades de motricidad gruesa, como aros hula hula, rayuela y pelotas que harán que todos salten, se muevan y se emocionen. En toda la primera planta, los niños podrán interactuar con actividades de motricidad fina, rompecabezas y juegos de mesa para divertirse.

Pero eso no es todo. El personal está buscando a Winston, el león melancólico, y necesita tu ayuda. Winston está durmiendo en algún lugar de nuestro museo, ¡pero no lo encontramos! Durante la visita autoguiada, mantén los ojos bien abiertos en busca de nuestro pequeño león aletargado. Cuando lo encuentres, ¡no grites y despiértalo! Hazte una foto o un selfie con él y enséñasela a nuestro recepcionista para conseguir una exclusiva pegatina de Winston. ¿Quieres divertirte más con nuestro león perezoso? Busca las pistas de Winston para responder a preguntas históricas y aprender más cosas sobre el museo mientras exploras cada una de las salas. Lo mejor de todo es que esta búsqueda del tesoro no tiene límite de tiempo, por lo que todos pueden disfrutar de esta actividad a su propio ritmo. Al final de la búsqueda, pase por la recepción para mostrar sus respuestas y ganar un divertido premio.
